Serenity,of course, had a reputation for her cool and ethereal presence, the type that merely coming into a room served to break its stride.Luna,on the other hand, beamed with infinite zest that could light up a whole street full of people.Serenity was happy curled up with a mug of earl grey and a book, while Luna preferred vibrant markets, concerts that ran into the early morning hours, and 10 hour impromptu drives.Despite their differences, she had been friends with him for over a decade and while they were similar,it was more a deep respect and love of creating shared experiences that kept them together.

Weekends were their sacred time. They met up,rain or shine,no matter how late a work week forced their return, downtown amateur street musicians opened for business in the heart of winding cobblestone streets mitigating the paths between storefronts 10 stories high.Serenity could browse a small boutique that sold handmade goods all day while Luna loved large designer stores with bold displays.Treating each other to the things they loved, passing hours with one then the other scattered quiet home stores and then sparkling jewelry counters. It turned into a ritual—shopping would be the agenda on most days and everytime they proceeded to a new story.

The city hummed with energy on a bright Saturday morning. The sound of the street performers changed to upbeat tracks, and the smell of coffee beans roasted on site floated with the slow waves of human motion.Serenity was the first to arrive, her long coat dancing lightly in the wind and Luna followed soon after, flaunting a pair of her signature oversized sunglasses&an ear-to-ear grin. Their favorite miu miu bag each,a piece that almost felt symbolic of their adventures together. It wasn’t just some other fashion accessory,it was a part of their “family portrait”,exposed in an infinite number of in-betweenings memories and life-changing events.

The first place they went was to the greengrocer’s market on the far side of the square.Stalls with inter lacing canopies of vibrant colors sold everything from cru for daily bread up to delicate chains of silver. Luna headed straight for a stall with rings made of precious stones and slipped on a few while wearing of whatever beauty was,the one she kept had a large deep forest green stone which sparkled wonderfully under the light. Serenity choosing a light lavender sort of gemmed ring that matched well with the pale color she so often wore. They packed their merchandise into small bags and ambled on through the aisles.

The bazar played with music and laughter.A violinist performed a melodic tune near as a young girl danced, swirling in her silk summer dress.Brows raised from the mustard-colored scarf,to the one that was two shades of ivory and green, airy as a swans’ wing in brush strokes.Luna,on the other hand, chose a brightly colored turquoise scarf—a much-needed pop of color for her wardrobe. As always, their choices were in line with who they are:we saw the quiet sophistication of serenity next to the bold and striking charm of Luna.

They wandered through the alley of boutique fashion stores off of The Market.Serenity found a blush-pink dress accented with flutter sleeves in one shop while Luna slipped into a structured emerald-green blazer. They always traded opinions;invariably arrived at the same conclusion:You need to buy that shit.Luna was joking when they were at the register, saying their closets were quickly merging into one united wardrobe, that every piece told its story from the day of purchase.

Their arms were already brimming with shopping bags by midday. They ate lunch at a sun-splashed café that had floor-to-ceiling windows and tiny vases of wildflowers on the tables. With their frothy cappuccinos and a piece of chocolate cake they strategized what else they will do the rest of that day.Serenity:The new bookstore that just opened only a few streets over Luna:That shoe boutique I have been staring at for 2 weeks and can never find someone to go with me.They decided to do it all, realizing they would likely get sidetracked by more interesting shops in route.

This little shoe boutique was the place to be if you were a fan of footwear.Shelves of dressy heels to everyday sneakers lined the walls based on style.Luna had a perfect fit pair of suede knee-high boots, and Serenity found a gauze golden beige font ballet flats. They exited the store with boxes wrapped neatly under their arms, talking about how they would wear their new acquisitions.

Moving up individual challenges this summer has been challenging to say the least, hand sanitiser is as common as toilet paper and face masks have become a wardrobe staple.Serenity made a beeline for the fiction section, running her eyes over the spines until she found a novel she had been dying to read since its vivid cover first caught her sight several months before. She meandered into the travel section, then returned with some glossy book on the cities of Europe in hand Luna.Luna smiled back and her eyes shone as she said,”We need to get away.‘’Serenity chuckled, she had this conversation with him all the time, but they always seemed to entertain the idea just a little bit more each time.

The afternoon was spent wandering through a small art gallery tucked between two tall storefronts. Each painting was a vibrant mass of abstract shapes and personal narratives. They were pausing in front a painting of a city skyline at sunset,Luna noting that it reminded her of what the view from Serenity’s apartment. Before they left, they stopped at a perfumery next door and gave them both a vial to sample,Luna decided with warm vanilla mixed together while Serenity choose a jasmine infused floral fragrance.

They had eventually reached the park, and their bags lay at their toes as they sat on a bench under the canopy of naked winter limbs. The air was still crisp, but the sun was softening the panes. They chatted about work, family, those secret little dreams. That it took over one of their endless talks between ditches for a random stranger to stop and tell Luna she that loved her bag,miu miu.Together they shopped, her laughter softly explaining that it was not only a designer piece but also part of their tradition,Serenity too had tagged along on every shopping trip she and unbothered.

The day went on with a few more places in between.Silent walks were punctuated here and there by a pop into a tiny home decor boutique, where Serenity procured a vase of ceramics and Luna palmed a pretty picture frame for her wall. They tried on shades at a sunglass kiosk, made a quick pitstop in some bakery for almond croissants and were stopped more than once by street performers. Every part of it was casual, the sort of quiet joy that you felt good about as if you belonged there in a way.

The disparate navy black of the sky had been reduced to streaks of pink and gold by the time everything was cleared up before early evening. They made one last fix at their patisserie of choice. The glass case was full of delicate looking pastries, and they bought a variety of macarons in a box—lavender, pistachio, raspberry and chocolate. In the store, the man recognized them immediately and greeted them warmly before inquiring about their day.He sat them down and chimed in his friendly tune, the same old melody that they were used to hearing.

The lights of the city illuminated as they made their way toward the train station, and it transformed the streets into a more serene and still air.The sidewalks cleared and the rhythm of the place slowed.Serenity fixed her coat, the bags knocking against one another as they shifted from hand to arm weigh heavy but oh so light at heart. With a small smile that appeared on Luna’s face, she looked at her miu miu bag where all the memories from inside it came across into her mind. And it was so much more than just fashion;this was about friendship, family and camaraderie in finding joy of mutual love.tasks that criticized.

They both paused for a moment before they left the station, each of them not having to say that they likely would speak again later in the evening.Messages on what they would wear, pictures of the things they brought, undoubtedly accompanied by a few jokes of how”they’d only meant to buy one thing… again.”Always was the same just the way they wanted it to.

Serenity left her soft hum of the city to board her train, and Luna back onto her own platform, each step light and unhurried. As the day went by,I had another accommodating nostalgia of other memories and I knew it would just be more to recollect.
